After a long, tough winter at Oak Knoll, it’s time for golfers to knock the rust off their clubs and get ready for tournament season, which officially begins in March. As usual, the season kicks off with the Harold Kea Match Play Championship, which will be contested on the weekend of March 20-21 and coincides with the beginning of spring.
The event is played in memory of Harold Kea, who was a long-time member of Oak Knoll and a Club Champion in five different decades. Unlike the Club Championship, this tournament is a match play event, which pits golfer against golfer instead of golfer against the golf course. This type format allows for aggressive play, and the flow of the match can produce exciting golf.
Defending champion Steve Hebert has already committed to the field and hopes to achieve yet another major win at Oak Knoll.
Remember, there is an MGA event this Saturday at Oak Knoll. Call the golf shop to sign up for both events.
