I’m glad the month of August has come to an end for a number of reasons this year. We should start to begin to feel a slight change in the temperature as little hints of fall will drop the heat index down if it’s only a few degrees. Football season kicks off and we have the defending Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints to cheer for (Wow, doesn’t that sound crazy?). Oh yeah, LSU will be playing too, hurray!? Most of all I hope September brings dry weather as our golf course has been too wet for too long. We all deserve a dry fall and winter as the summer has been as rainy as anyone can remember.

Due to wet weather, the annual Hammond vs. Ponchatoula match has been moved to November 6 which is the Saturday morning after the Friday night football clash between the two rivals. Maybe this is where the event should be on the calendar anyway as the motivation to win will be turned up notch with the football game being played.

Our September club events to be held this month include the LGA Acorn and both Club Championships. Grady Brame, Jr. and Sharol Rowell are the defending champions and are poised at a run for another championship. The Acorn promises to be another fun event as Mary Ortego is working hard to ensure a good time. Please contact the golf shop if interested in playing in either of these events.

September 4 MGA 8:00 meeting; 8:30 golf

September 6 Labor Day Club Open

September 15 Acorn 9:00 shotgun

September 20 Outside Tournament Golf course closed

September 24-26 MGA Club Champ am tee times

September 27 Ponchy Rotary Golf course closed

October 2 MGA 8:00 meeting; 8:30 golf

October 11 Charlie Landry Golf course closed

October 12 Northshore Ladies 9:00 shotgun

October 15-17 Subway Inv. Golf course closed

Starting Monday, September 13, the golf course will be open for play at 10:00 am for the membership and non-member play. Please call the golf shop for tee times.
